Sometimes the chance for bigger things drove the home boats North - here the Fern and Keriolet rest in Girvan at the weekend and take a break from prawning in the Clyde. The local gendarmes were none too impressed when the boys shot a small net in a vain attempt to catch the big Mullet that filled the harbour - transpired that they were convinced a bigger, equally silver fish was the prey - not the sort of thing that swam in Newlyn!
