Having broken dwon with gearbox trouble the Defiant (skipper/owner Watty Andrews) picks up atow from the Fern south of Mounts Bay. Despite the distance off the flash from the camera was seen by the coastguard lookout at Gwennap Head (in the days of such things). Today, the National Coastwatch Institution manned by volunteers provides this important service. The Defiant was lost several years later in the Bristol Channel.
