Jeff Davis, from South West Nets and ex-trawler skipper at the helm of the Newlyn team's yacht in the International Defi Des Ports De Peche, St Quay Portrieux in 1987. That year Brixham and Jersey were also UK representatives in a 27 strong field of fishing ports from around Europe taking part. That year, Brixham came 5th with well known Falmouth fisherman, Timmy Bailey at the helm. An amazing event with races held over five days that included a 37 mile run before a gale of nor' easterly wind from Jersey to the Breton coast - running South at 14 knots with a spinnaker up provided some eventful moments!
